The Kapalua coastal trail is a very short single-track (1,7 miles, 2,5 km) on the north coast of Lahaina in Maui.
It offers beautiful views of the ocean with little bays, lava rocks and its wildlife. Unfortunately it is very short and also it is the only one (I think) in Maui. What I have seen in this week is that the seaside is no always accessible; beaches are huge and free (especially on the north shore near Paia), with also parking areas with bbqs , wc and security assistance, but there is no way to connect them by foot or by bike hiking or riding. In Europe around Mediterranean sea we are used to do that and it is a wonderful way to enjoying the nature without using cars (seel ater in this chapeter “Biking in Maui” and “Bus in Maui”).
The trail ends in the wold famous Kapalua bay, a very narrow and sandy beaches where it is possible to do snorkeling; here where we found a big turtle while pasturing the reef.
